Magic Complete Pre-Season Trade with Five Prior to Upcoming Exhibition Game

December 4, 2019 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Moncton Magic News Release

In a trade with the Sudbury Five, the Magic have acquired the player rights to point guard Maurice Jones Sr. for forward Justin Moss. This trade comes just days before the two teams square off for the second time this pre-season.

NBLC fans will be familiar with Jones Sr. as a successful, scoring point guard. Hailing from Saginaw, Michigan, Jones Sr. stands at 5'8, 155lbs. Mo started his college career with USC, then transferring to Northwood for his Junior and Senior years.

"Mo has been one of the elite point guards in this league over the last several seasons. He has the ability to wreak havoc on both ends of the floor, as well as being a consistent playmaker, for his teammates. Obviously, it was a difficult decision to let go of Justin, but we felt at this time with the way our roster was shaping up this was the right move for our organization." Says Head Coach and GM of Player Operations Joe Salerno.

Mo Jones Sr. joined the NBLC in 2016 with the Windsor Express, and was awarded Rookie of the Year. Now, a 3-year veteran of the league, Jones Sr. finished the 2018-19 season with the Sudbury Five, averaging 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2 steals per game with the team.

The Magic will face-off against the Sudbury Five once again before the start of the regular season, this Saturday, Dec 7that 7:00pm at the Avenir Centre. They will also hit the road for their final pre-season game on the rock against the St. John's Edge on Dec 15th.

Get your tickets online at Ticketmaster.ca or tune into NBLC Live for the road trip action.
