Magic Add More Athleticism

(Moncton, NB.) The defending NBL Canada Champion Moncton Magic continue to add more talent and depth to their training camp roster. Most recently, they have also added more athleticism with the signing of 6'7" power forward Dominic Shuler.
Shuler, who hails from Irmo, South Carolina but now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada came to terms with the Magic early last week. He played 15 games in the NBL Canada last season as a member of the Island Storm, and his high-flying play caught the eye of Head Coach and General Manager of Player Operations Joe Salerno.
"Explosive may be the best word to describe Dominic. He is a tremendous athlete who plays head and shoulders above the rim" commented Salerno. "He plays a very aggressive brand of basketball. He seems to just be everywhere on the court, every possession. It's hard not to admire his work ethic, and his hustle. He plays one way, hard, all the time."
Shuler showed very well last season against the Magic, which may have helped solidify his spot in the team's training camp this year. In his two games against the defending champs last season he averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game, while shooting a blistering 65% from the field, and 87% from the free throw line.
Salerno feels the signing of Shuler could add another elite defender to an already stout defense, as well as a true energy guy who as he put it "will bring his hard hat and lunch pail to work everyday." The Magic's newest addition seems to have similar thoughts.
"I know that me coming to this team, I will bring energy and excitement every night" stated Shuler. "I'm really happy to sign with the Magic, for I know that I'll become a better basketball player here. Once I'm on the team, it's all love and respect like family."
Shuler will join returnees Billy White, Denzell Taylor, and Brad States in the Moncton front court this season. He is the second NBL Canada veteran free agent to sign with the Hub City for the upcoming season, joining former Saint John Riptide player Jeremiah Mordi, who signed on with the team last month. The Magic are set to open training camp November 15th, at Crandall University.
