Mack and Parmer earn Player of the Week honors

Boise, ID (January 10, 2005) — The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Michigan Mayhem forward Sam Mack was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, while Yakima Sun Kings guard Marlon Parmer was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of January 2 – 8.

Mack posted 26.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in four games played during the week, as he led the Mayhem to a 2-2 record. He also added 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per contest, while shooting 49.0 percent (44 of 90) from the floor, and 35.0 percent (9 of 26) from behind the three-point line. In a 94-86 (5-2) victory over the Gary Steelheads on January 3, Mack posted 30 points and eight rebounds to go with three steals and two blocked shots. On January 8, he again scored 30 points, and added five rebounds and two assists in a 114-98 (6-1) victory over the Idaho Stampede.

In nine games played (five started) for the Mayhem this season, Mack is averaging 25.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, to go along with 19 assists, 12 steals and two blocked shots.

Yakima guard Marlon Parmer notched the top two scoring outputs in the league this season, as he scored 41 and 40 points respectively in back-to-back contests. For the week, he posted 36.2 points, 13.5 assists per game in four games played, as he led the Sun Kings to a 2-2 record. He also added 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest, while shooting 52.9 percent (45 of 85) from the floor, and 39.1 percent (9 of 23) from behind the three-point line.

In a 115-108 (6-1) victory over the Great Lakes Storm on January 2, Parmer scored 41 points, and added 15 assists, six rebounds and three steals. Two nights later he notched 40 points, 13 assists and five rebounds in a 124-119 (6-1) loss to the Rockford Lightning. On January 8, he led Yakima to a 131-102 (6-1) victory over Western Conference leading Dakota after posting 31 points, 15 assists and three rebounds.

On the season, Parmer is 2nd in the league in scoring at 22.4 points per game, while also ranking 2nd in assists with 10.4 per contest.

Other players receiving consideration were Gary's Jemeil Rich (16.0 ppg, 12.8 apg), Great Lakes' Jackie Butler (23.0 ppg, 13.7 rpg), Dakota's Maurice Baker (24.0 ppg, 9.0 apg), Idaho's Taliek Brown (18.0 ppg, 11.3 apg), and Sioux Falls' Alpha Bangura (24.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg).
