Chicago Machine News Release
May 31, 2006 With two of the top ten draft picks in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft, the Chicago Machine picked up Sean Morris and Michael Culver to join the Machine ranks. Sean Morris scored 26 goals this past season with the University of Massachusetts and is one of five nominees for the Tewaarton Trophy. "Sean is a proven scorer and feeder," said Machine Head Coach Kevin Finneran. "We are very excited to have him as a Machine attackman."
Michael Culver was the second Machine pick of the draft and comes to the Machine after a strong season with the 2006 University of Virginia NCAA Championship team. "Culver has the ability to neutralize top players in the game and is a strong leader on the field," stated Finneran. Michael Culver achieved first-team All-American as an outstanding defensive player.
The third pick for the Machine was Cornell midfielder Joe Boulukos. In the midfield position, Boulukos has strength in both his offensive and defensive skills as well as elite face-off ability. The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association recently announced Joe Boulukos as a co-winner of the Lieutenant Donald McLaughlin Junior Award as the nation's top midfielder. Boulukos ended his college career with 89 career goals and 124 career points and is a nominee for the 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy.
The Chicago Machine used its last two draft picks for Dan Flannery of Duke University and Denver's Adam Goodwin. Growing up in Ohio, Goodwin will go back to his Midwest roots to join the only Midwest team in Major League Lacrosse. "Goodwin is a solid midfielder and will make a profound impact on our team," stated Finneran. "And Adam Flannery is a player who has a good eye on the field. We're anxious to get him out on the lacrosse field with the rest of our team."
The Chicago Machine home opener is June 3, 2006 at the Sports Complex at Benedictine University - "The Home of the Machine". For more information regarding the Chicago Machine game schedule and tickets, please call our TICKET HOTLINE at 847-424-1390.
