Chicago Machine News Release
The Chicago Machine announced today the trade of Ryan Mollett, defenseman, in exchange for three draft picks from the New Jersey Pride. The Chicago Machine will now have New Jersey's 2nd round college pick in 2006 - 15th overall - and New Jersey's 2nd round and 5th round college picks in 2007.
Mollett was acquired by the Machine in the 3rd round of the 2006 MLL Expansion Draft as the 12th overall pick. Mollett was an All-Star defenseman with the Rochester Rattlers and will now play for the New Jersey Pride in 2006. In 2001, Mollett was the #1 overall college pick.
Mollett played for Princeton University where he won two National Championships and was captain for the 2001 National Championship team. He is presently attending Yale University's business school and working for BlackRock in their high yield/distressed debt group.
"While we wish Ryan was able to play here in Chicago, we honored his request for a trade," stated Machine Assistant General Manager, Jacques Bagley. "We feel that the picks we received in return will put us in a good position in the college draft the next two years. The 15th pick this year should be a player who can step in and contribute right away. This is a deep draft and this pick replaces the 2nd round pick we traded as part of the Leveille deal."
The Chicago Machine home-opener is on June 3, 2006 at Benedictine University's Sports Complex - "The Home of the Machine". For more information regarding the Chicago Machine game schedule and tickets, please call 847-424-1390.
