Toronto Lynx News Release
The Lynx USL First Division team head on a two-match road trip, commencing on Thursday when they tackle Miami FC, and continuing on Sunday evening with a game against the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Lynx hope to avenge a 1-nil home defeat against the Romario-led Miami squad and earn their first win of the season when the two clubs take the field at 7:30 PM on June 15 at Tropical Park Stadium. The Brazilian legend Romario had been on a torrid scoring pace in his first USL-1 season, notching a league-leading 5 goals in only 8 matches, including a scintillating strike against the Lynx in their victory on May 26 at Centennial Park Stadium. The surprising first-year club currently sit in a sixth-place tie with Virginia Beach, having earned 13 points to date for a 3-3-4 record.
The Lynx will then take to the air and travel to Bayamon, Puerto Rico for their first encounter of the season with the Puerto Rico Islanders at 5:00 PM at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium. Puerto Rico currently sits tied for fourth in the USL-1 table with 14 points and a 4-3-2 record. The match will be the second in three days for the hosts as they are set to host Seattle on Friday evening. Josh "Caleb" Norkus leads the Islander attack with 3 goals, and keeper Dan Kennedy is strong between the posts, allowing less than a goal a game through the first 9 matches.
