Luzayadio Earns Special Teams Player of the Week Honors Again

The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce that kicker Ton-Ton Luzayadio has been named UIF Special Teams Player of the Week for Week Four. Last weekend against the Bloomington Extreme, Luzayadio connected on 4 of his 5 field goal attempts and was a perfect 5 for 5 kicking extra points giving him 17 points in the game. His field goal attempts were successful from distances of 39, 39, 25, and 41 yards.
This is already the second time Luzayadio has earned Player of the Week honors for the 2006 season. He was also named Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Ohio Valley Greyhounds in Week Two.
In only four games with the Evansville BlueCats, Luzayadio has already broken the team record for most field goals in a season with 12, breaking the old mark of 11 which was shared by Brad Zientara in 2004 and Erik Rockhold in 2005. He only needs 3 more field goals to break the BlueCats all-time total of 15 field goals in a career. So far this season, he leads the league in scoring among kickers, and sits in 3rd place overall in the UIF with 49 points. He is the most accurate and productive kicker in the league so far this season as he leads the league with 12 field goals made and he's also in first place in field goal percentage.
Last season, Evansville BlueCats players received UIF Player of the Week honors 8 times. No team in the league has won more Player of the Week awards than the Evansville BlueCats. Luzayadio earned Special Team Player of the Week honors once last season in Week 6 of 2005 while kicking for the Black Hills Red Dogs, coincidentally, that game was in Evansville against the BlueCats.
Ohio Valley quarterback Matt Kohn and linebacker Brock Dodrill were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week by the league in Week Four.
