Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- Set to celebrate their 50th Anniversary Season of professional hockey in Muskegon, the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League will have the pleasure and privilege of working with a new partner alongside them to share in the much anticipated excitement and electricity of their majestic golden anniversary year. When the 2009-10 IHL hockey season is launched, the Lumberjacks will be doing so with a new radio place to call home for all of their thrilling game broadcasts, as well as their popular Monday radio show and daily update report.
On this date, the Muskegon Lumberjacks, in concert with Citadel Broadcasting, have jointly announced the completion of a four-year contract deal that will make radio station WLAW-FM 92.5 the new radio flagship home for all of the Lumberjacks live play-by-play broadcasts as well as the ever-popular Monday night "Jacks Jam" show. At the same time, Citadel Broadcasting's WEFG-FM 97.5 will serve as the new outlet for the daily report, "The Lumberjacks Hockey Update."
For the next four seasons, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 all games played by the Muskegon Lumberjacks, pre-season, regular season and playoff games, home and away, in their entirety, will be aired live with all of the play-by-play action on WLAW-FM 92.5 "THE OUTLAW." As in past years, all game broadcasts will consist of an one-half hour Pre-Game Show as well as "Star of the Game Show," which will follow all home game originations and the Lumberjacks Post Game Show; the latter program to follow after all Lumberjacks games.
Included in the Lumberjacks radio presentation on WLAW-FM 92.5 "THE OUTLAW" will be the weekly Monday night "Jacks Jam" radio show which will continue for an unprecedented 15th consecutive year in its regular two-hour format of 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The program is aired every Monday night during the Lumberjacks hockey season, itself, and on a monthly schedule during the course of the off-season summer months.
As far as the team's traditional daily radio report is concerned, "The Lumberjacks Hockey Update" will return to one of the other premiere radio stations comprising the Citadel Broadcasting family of stations and WEFG-FM 97.5 "THE CHAMP." The âJacks daily report will be on-the-air Monday through Friday afternoon prime-time, drive-time, immediately following the state-wide "Huge Show" at 5:57 pm.
The Lumberjacks Vice President Communications / Broadcasting Terry Ficorelli expressed much enthusiasm and satisfaction with the organization's new radio deal. "We are truly thrilled and excited to be back with Citadel Broad-casting, such a first class, professional organization. It is really special for us to forge this partnership in having Citadel at our sides as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary Season of pro hockey in Muskegon together. WLAW-FM 92.5, âThe Outlaw' has a tremendous signal and broadcast range for all of our many fans in this part of the state for our game broadcasts and popular Monday night âJacks Jam' show. In addition, our daily update report slips into an excellent prime-time, drive-time slot immediately following âThe Huge Show' on 97.5, âThe Champ.' We look forward to the next four years with Citadel Broadcasting and many great Lumberjacks hockey seasons together."
Renee Dudek, General Sales Manager for Citadel Broadcasting / Muskegon echoed the sentiments of her new business partner and associate, reflecting the energy and attitude that 92.5 "THE OUTLAW" and 97.5 "THE CHAMP" will bring to the Lumberjacks new radio home center stage. "We are very excited to partner with such a premiere organization as the Muskegon Lumberjacks and provide all of the enjoyment of play-by-play coverage, the Monday night show and daily update report in their 50th Anniversary Season on the airwaves of 92.5 FM âThe Outlaw' and 97.5 âThe Champ.' It'll be great fun for us and all of the fans to tune in to the Lumberjacks being heard all over West Michigan."
This will be the second endeavor for Muskegon pro hockey action on WLAW-FM 92.5 "THE OUTLAW." Muske-gon Fury action was presented on 92.5 "THE OUTLAW" in both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons while 97.5 "THE CHAMP" also was the home base for daily update report from 1996 to 2007.
