Louisville Lightning News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY -- The Louisville Lightning Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) is hosting its first home game of the 2011-2012 season on Friday, November 18, at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. Doors open at 6:30 pm with music, an emcee, a kids zone with inflatables and games for children, a happy hour with $1 Budweiser products, a pregame ceremony to raise awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the official kick off at 7:30pm. Season ticket packages are still available and walk-up tickets may also be purchased at the door.

The Lightning will be facing their rivals, the Cincinnati Kings, in a game affectionately deemed the "I-71 Derby". Historically, both teams battle for the top of the division each year. Last Saturday evening, the Lightning defeated the Kings in Cincinnati, 11-9. The Lightning are currently at second place in the Eastern Division of the PASL after going 1-1 in the first two games of the season.

Lightning fans are encouraged to get their tickets and arrive to the game early to enjoy the pregame party. The first 250 people in the door will receive a Louisville Lightning coozie as part of the kick off to the Yellow Cab Happy Hour. Friday night's game will also feature a new First Kick Ceremony. Similar to the first pitch of the game often highlighted at professional baseball games, the First Kick Ceremony will provide an opportunity for community organizations partnering with the Lightning to gain awareness for their causes. Country singer Darren Warren will partake in the inaugural ceremony. Darren released his debut six-song "Cowboy UP And Party Down" EP earlier this year. He also is a huge advocate of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, having spent almost three years of his life being treated for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

The Lightning will be collecting donations for St. Jude and encourage fans to join Lightning veteran John Michael Hayden at the "St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk" on Saturday, November, 19.

"There is something for everyone to enjoy at Louisville Lightning games this year," said Associate Head Coach and Owner Ted Nichols. "Every Lightning game feels like a party and there is plenty of entertainment for soccer fans, families, and people looking for a great experience on cold Friday nights! It's the perfect recipe to help non-soccer fans develop a taste and passion for the sport."

Spectators are encouraged to join the team on the field following each game for an autograph and picture session with players. Members of the media are also invited to attend post-game press conferences in the VIP area featuring Lightning players and coaches.
