Louisville Lightning News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY -- The Louisville Lightning will host the reigning Professional Arena Soccer League champion San Diego Sockers Friday night at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. The game features a rematch of last season's US Open title game.

The San Diego Sockers come to Louisville boasting an undefeated 5-0 record this season, including a win over the Lightning in San Diego on December 4th. The Sockers won both the PASL league title and the US Open trophy last season, claiming the latter over the Lightning in the title game.

In addition to the clash between the Lightning and the league's premier team in San Diego, the University of Louisville Men's Soccer Team will be honored at halftime of Friday's game. Coach Ken Lolla and members of the team will be in attendance Friday night to take part in the ceremony. The Cardinals made it to the NCAA College Cup National Championship, the first in program history, and finished the season with a 20-1-3 overall record. Lolla will be making his second appearance at a Lightning game this season, and the Louisville Lightning were recently recognized at a University of Louisville Men's Soccer game as well.

The Lightning anticipate a packed house Friday night for San Diego, who are expected to bring a substantial group of fans to the game as well. Friday's game has been announced as a 'White-Out' with fans encouraged to wear white, and officially-licensed adidas white Lightning shirts will be available for sale. The team will also host Santa Claus at the game, who will meet with fans and take photos during and after the game.

Kickoff for Friday's game between the Louisville Lightning and San Diego Sockers is set for 8 PM at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. For more information, please visit www.louisvillelightning.com or contact Nathan Redd at 502.876.6836.
