WIN AND IN: It's real simple for the Fire this week against San Diego, win and clinch a spot in the playoffs. Florida, Manchester and Green Bay have already secured their spots in the playoffs in the American Conference.

THIS WEEK: The Fire will return to action on Saturday in Freedom Hall against the San Diego Riptide (4-8). The two teams met during the 2002 season when the Riptide defeated the Fire 68-27 in San Diego. The Fire will be giving away mini Fire footballs. The game will be highlighted by the Hunter's For the Hungry Wild Game Cook-off, starting at 2:00 the day of the game. Fans can pay $10 to sample everything being cooked and that includes a ticket to the game that night, season ticket holders can taste test for $8. The cook-off will take place in parking lot J at the Fairgrounds.

MANNING WINS AWARD: Fire WR/DB Cesare Manning was named the af2's Offensive Player of the Week for his seven touchdown performance against Albany on June 24. Manning tied the af2's record for touchdown receptions in a game, and broke the Fire records for touchdowns in a game and most points in a game (42).

LEAGUE LEADERS: The Fire is currently leading the league in a several categories:

Total offense 294.6 yards a game

Pass offense 281.3 yards a game

Passing yards: 3376

Pass completions: 316

First downs: 266

Sacks against: 4

Individually Matthew Sauk is also leading the league in the following categories:

Total offense 280.8 yards a game

Passing touchdowns: 70

Passing yards: 3388
