STEELDOGS PREP FOR DIVISION RIVAL KNIGHTS With their playoff hopes gone, the Steeldogs turn to their one final goal of the 2005 season: finish the year with an even division record. The team's final four games of the season are against South Division foes, beginning with Saturday night.
The Macon Knights invade the BJCC Arena, following a 67-50 victory over Birmingham in the Steeldogs first road game of the season. Macon's offense revolves around Lionel Hayes and Chris Johnson, both of whom had monster games in Week 2.

Coach Humphrey returns for his sixth season as the head coach of the Birmingham Steeldogs. He is the longest-tenured coach in af2 football, as well as the all-time winningest. In 2004, Humphrey surpassed friend and long-time rival Kevin Porter as the league's most victorious head man with his 46th win.
Bobby is a 2004 inductee into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. He currently resides in Birmingham with his wife Barbara and their five children.

Derek Stingley, an eight-year veteran of the Arena Football League, retired as player from the Dallas Desperados after the 2004 season and will begin his professional coaching career with the Knights.
Stingley joined the Knights as defensive coordinator and was named the head coach on May 13, 2005.
STEELDOGS-KNIGHTS SERIES
The Steeldogs and Knights have squared off seven times since Macon entered the af2 in 2001.
June 22, 2002 - Macon 71 Birmingham 61: The first game in series history was an inauspicious one for the Steeldogs, as the Knights defeated Birmingham 71-61 at the BJCC Arena. Macon's John Rayborn completed 25 of 29 pass attempts for 222 yards and scored six touchdowns.
July 20, 2002 - Birmingham 48 Macon 46: At the Macon Coliseum, the Steeldogs staged a remarkable comeback down by ten points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Knights, 48-46. Herman Bell's 19-yard touchdown receptions with just over one minute remaining gave the Steeldogs a much needed momentum boost on their way to the National Conference Finals.
April 19, 2003 - Macon 49 Birmingham 29: In the Steeldogs' first road game of 2003, the Knights overwhelmed Birmingham, 49-29. Macon QB Sean Peterson completed 23 of 33 passes for 255 yards and four touchdowns. Steeldogs OS Aryvia Holmes caught 10 passes for 114 yards and two scores.
May 31, 2003 - Birmingham 63 Macon 37: At the BJCC Arena, the Steeldogs exacted their pound of flesh in response to Macon's blowout win a month earlier, relying on Chris Windsor's 214 passing yards and Anthony Jordan's four touchdown catches.
May 8, 2004 - Birmingham 55 Macon 27: Birmingham defeated Macon, 55-27, at the BJCC Arena, led by QBs Jeff Aaron and Kenton Evans. The men combined for 239 yards passing. Anthony Jordan intercepted three Cecil Lester passes, setting a new Steeldogs record.
July 31, 2004 - Birmingham 50 Macon 31: The Steeldogs defeated the Knights, 50-31, at the Macon Coliseum in the 2004 regular season finale. Jeff Aaron led the Steeldogs attack, completing 11 of 21 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Carlos McNeary caught seven passes for 150 yards and scored four touchdowns.
April 14, 2005 - Macon 67 Birmingham 50: The Steeldogs first road game of 2005 ended in heartbreak as the Knights came out victorious, 67-50, at the Macon Coliseum. Andrew Zow led the way for Birmingham, completing 20 of 36 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns. Macon's Chris Jackson caught 11 passes for 216 yards and four scores.
