Louisville City FC News Release

Louisville City FC, the new USL PRO team that will start play in March of 2015, announced today the signing of former MLS and U.S. Under-20 National Team midfielder Conor Shanosky. Shanosky, a 23-year-old from Sterling, Virginia, joins Louisville City after five seasons with D.C. United.

"Conor is a massive signing for us," Louisville City FC head coach James O'Connor stated. "To have had MLS, U.S. National Team and CONCACAF Champions League experience, Conor is someone that we are extremely excited to join us, and his character and leadership will definitely make a difference this season."

Shanosky joins Louisville City FC after spending two years on loan with the D.C. United USL PRO affiliate, the Richmond Kickers. He scored three goals in 31 total appearances for the Kickers with two of those goals coming in the 2013 regular season championship year. The season before, while on loan to the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, the holding-midfielder played 28 games for the NASL side helping them finish fifth that year, but were knocked out in the first round of the 2012 postseason. In 2011, Shanosky made his USL PRO debut, playing a pair of games for the Harrisburg City Islanders.

This past October, Shanosky scored the game winner for D.C. United in a CONCACAF Champions league match-up with Tauro F.C. out of Jamaica. His goal in the 24th minute allowed United to move through the CCL Group play unscathed.

At the age of 19, Shanosky exercised his right to a homegrown player contract and signed with D.C. United in 2010. In the same year, Shanosky played eight games for the U.S. U-20 National Team that won the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland by beating Northern Ireland 3-0 in the Finals. The D.C. United Academy product played in five games for the Black-and-Red, including three starts, during the 2013 season.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound defender is now the second player to join Louisville City FC that has played for the U.S. National Team, the other being Kadeem Dacres. Shanosky is the first to sign with Major League Soccer experience.
