LAKE CHARLES, LA (May 5, 2010) - At a press conference on Wednesday, the Louisiana Swashbucklers (2-3) of the Southern Indoor Football League made a coaching change replacing Shadrick McAfee with defensive coordinator Michael Warren.

After being named head coach back in October of last year, McAfee was poised to take over the head coaching duties after former head coach Darnell Lee accepted the same position with the Alaska Wild of the IFL. Once a former player, McAfee returned to the Swashbucklers after serving as an assistant with the Mudbugs back in 2008.

"It was a mutual decision to make change," says Louisiana Swashbucklers Owner and President Thom Hager. "We are currently in negotiations in placing McAfee somewhere within the Southern Indoor Football League.

Michael Warren served as the defensive coordinator for the club and has been an assistant for the Swashbucklers for the past couple of seasons. In attendance was former head coach Darnell Lee who was visiting Lake Charles due to the Alaska Wild being on a bye week. Lee offered his assistance in the selection process and immediately gave a vote of confidence with the Bucs decision to promote Warren.

"Warren is both a student of the game and embraces strong family values," says former Louisiana Swashbucklers head coach Darnell Lee. "He knows Swashbucklers football and will work hard with the team to keep them competitive for the remainder of the season."

Michael takes over a club searching to regain the poise that has helped the Swashbucklers win three consecutive titles, including last season's inaugural SIFL championship. Change in leadership was made due to the Purple and Black gang's dismal 2-3 start including this past weekends disappointing overtime loss by the hands of Lafayette Wildcatters in which Louisiana surrendered a 15-point lead.

"My first goal is to get the team back to the level of play the fans are accustomed to," says new Swashbucklers head coach Michael Warren. "There are a few changes on the horizon but the main thing is to get the team back to its winning ways."

With the Swashbucklers having this week off, Warren will make his head-coaching debut on May 15th when his club travels to take on the first place Albany Panthers (3-0).
