Louisville City FC has signed Alex Kron to a USL Academy contract, making the goalkeeper available for selection starting with Saturday's game at Indy Eleven.

The academy deal allows Kron, a St. Xavier High School senior, to train with and play for LouCity's professional squad while maintaining amateur status. He's committed to play collegiately starting this fall at the University of Kentucky.

This marks Kron's second go around with City's first team after he similarly signed an academy contract in the fall of 2021. Since then, Kron solidified his status as the No. 1 goalkeeper among the academy's current U-19 age group.

In December, Kron was one of four goalkeepers nationally - and the only boys player from Kentucky - recognized as a United Soccer Coaches High School All-American. Last month, he started for the LouCity Academy squad that won a division of the prestigious Dallas Cup.

Kron is the fourth LouCity Academy player registered on an amateur contract so far this season joining forwards Issac Cano and Colin Elder along with defender Travis Smith.

LouCity's scheduled to kick off against Indy Eleven at 7 p.m. Saturday at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.
