Visalia Rawhide News Release
Wednesday evening the Oaks played game two of a three game series against Lake Elsinore. After dropping game one 7-2 and losing their fifth straight game they would try to end the slide and get out of the basement in the North Division of the California League. The Oaks would send out southpaw Mike Prochaska to try and end the skid against right-hander Clark Girardeau.
The Oaks took the lead first on an RBI single by Colt Simmons and lead 1-0 in the second. The Storm would strike with two runs in the bottom of the fourth however and take a 2-1 lead. The Oaks who have been struggling for runs lately broke it open in the top of the fifth as they strike right back by scoring six times to take a commanding 7-2 lead.
In the seventh the Storm would get a leadoff homerun from Steve Baker his third of the season to make it a 7-3 ball game. The Oaks received great pitching by starter Mike Prochaska and equally as good relief by Josh Kranawetter. It got interesting in the ninth inning as the Storm rallied after getting a double from Peter Ramos that drove in two with two outs but he rounded second base to far on the double, and was nailed which ended the game with the Oaks on top 7-6.
The Oaks split the first two games and break their five game losing streak by winning game two and look to keep it going in the final game of this three game series on Thursday. Visalia will send out right-hander T.A. Fulmer vs. righty Javier Martinez who will throw for the Storm in game three before moving on to Rancho Cucamonga. Thursday's game gets under way at 7:05 PM, the Radisson pre-game show begins at 6:45, you can hear all the action on KJUG AM 1270 or log onto the Web at www.kjug.com.
