SEVIERVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Smokies (45-60) were shutout by the Chattanooga Lookouts (56-52), 6-0, Sunday afternoon in their final game of the season at Smokies Stadium.
Chuckie Robinson got the scoring started with a two-out, solo home run off Joe Nahas (L, 0-3) in the top of the second inning. Nahas allowed just one run over five innings, he surrendered five hits and struck out six. Carraway relieved Nahas in the sixth. After allowing a hit to the first two batters he faced, Carraway forced a fly out then induced an inning double play before pitching a perfect seventh.
The Lookouts broke the game open with five runs in the eighth. Dauris Valdez walked the first four Lookouts leading to a run. Miguel Hernandez followed with an RBI single off Bryan King. Another bases loaded and two sacrifice flies extended Chattanooga's lead to 6-0.
Chattanooga starter Randy Wynne (W, 8-4) retired the first ten Smokies before Carlos Sepulveda doubled in the fourth. Sepulveda had two of the five Smokies hits. Nelson Velazquez, Luis Vazquez, and Tim Susnara all singled in the loss.
The Smokies will begin their final series of the year Tuesday night against the Biloxi Shuckers at MGM Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 PM ET. Fans can hear all Smokies games by going to https://www.milb.com/tennessee/fans/audio-listen-live.
