Lookouts blow by Jaxx in ninth

(Jackson, TN) September 2nd- Chattanooga scored five times in the top of the ninth inning to erase an 8-5 deficit as the Lookouts kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 10-8 come from behind win over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

Mumba Rivera (4-7), who had converted his last four save chances, retired two of the first three batters before giving up the lead. With a runner at first and two outs, Danny Dorn doubled to left-center field, scoring Adam Rosales to make it 8-6. Mike Griffin walked to put runners at first and second. Shaun Cumberland then singled to right, scoring Dorn to cut the lead to 8-7. With two on and two out, Caonabo Cosme provided the dagger in the heart with a three run homer over the left-center field wall to give the Lookouts a 10-8 lead.

Pedro Viola retired the Diamond Jaxx in the bottom of the ninth inning to nail down his second save of the season. Viola saved the game for Carlos Bohorquez, who was called up from High-A Sarasota late last night. Rosales, Griffin and Cumberland ended the game with three hits each while Miguel Perez had two hits, including his third homer of the year to help pace a seventeen hit attack.

Marshall Hubbard had three hits and a RBI to lead the Diamond Jaxx attack. Jeff Frazier contributed with two hits and a RBI while Jon Nelson drove in two runs for the Jaxx, who have now lost their last four games.

The final game of the 2007 Southern League season will take place on Monday afternoon at 12:05 CDT. Lefty Justin Thomas (4-8 5.69) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Chattanooga will counter with right-hander Johnny Cueto (5-3 3.17).
