(Plainview, NY; Monday - March 8, 2004) The Long Island Rough Riders proudly announce Jonathan Bennett and Silke Repky as additions to the team's front office staff. Mr. Bennett takes over the position of Chief Operating Officer, and Ms. Repky joins as Media Relations Director.
Jonathan Bennett has been involved in the New York soccer community for over a decade. Most recently, he was the Associate GM of the Staten Island Vipers (A-League). Previously, he worked for the New York Fever and New York Centaurs as Director of Operations. "I've known the new Long Island Rough Riders management group for a number of years. They have great plans and ideas for the future. I'm very exited to help build upon the previous successes of the Long Island Rough Riders franchise."
He began his soccer management career as a volunteer for the 1994 World Cup Committee's Communications Department. He graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in Economics. Originally from Fairfield, CT, he now lives in Manhattan.
The new Media Relations Manager, Silke Repky comes from Germany after finishing her MA degree in Economics. She worked for the Public Relations Departments of the British PA Consulting Group and the German SIEMENS AG. Here in the US, she previously worked on press-related projects for Claudia Hill, a Manhattan-based fashion label. "I look forward to establishing a close relationship between the Long Island Rough Riders and the local & national media. We want to help continue branding the Rough Riders to the soccer community."
