Jersey G-Force News Release

Bethlehem, Penn. - The United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) returned to action on Saturday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex on the campus of Lehigh University, with all four member clubs in competition.

The first match of the evening pitted the Boston Storm (3-2) against the Philadelphia Force (0-5), with Boston claiming a 14-9 victory.

The Storm jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the encounter, only to see Philadelphia rally for four consecutive goals. Boston then went on a four-score run of their own to reclaim the lead, and the two teams exchanged tallies just before the halftime whistle to head into the intermission with the Storm leading, 7-5.

To start the second half, Boston was able to score five of the first six notches to put up a 12-6 scoreline, but the Force then retaliated with a pair to climb within three points at 12-8. However, the Storm was able to provide two of the final three finishes in the contest to secure the final 14-9 victory.

The high-scorer for Boston was Kayla Treanor, who recorded six points on four goals and two assists. The Philadelphia attack was paced by a hat trick from Kara Mupo and a three-point performance by Alyssa Murray (one goal, two assists). Scoring the win in net for the Storm was goalie Liz Hogan.

In the nightcap of this UWLX doubleheader, the undefeated Long Island Sound (5-0) powered to a double-digit win over the Baltimore Ride (2-3), 17-7.

The two clubs exchanged goals at the onset of this matchup until Baltimore saw itself with a 3-2 edge. The Sound attack then caught fire to finish off the opening half of play on an 8-2 run. Seven different goal-scorers finished for Long Island on that rally, and Hilary Fratzke also completed a first half hat trick before her side approached intermission with a 10-5 advantage.

The Sound was able to pick up where it left off in the second half, scoring the first four points of the frame before Baltimore responded with a pair to make it 14-7. However, Long Island was able to put three additional scores into the back of the net after that run to hang the final 17-7 score line.

The Sound saw four-point showcases from Katrina Dowd, Hilary Fratzke and Halle Majorana, while the Ride was provided three-point efforts by Katie Schwartzmann, Amanda Johansen and Dana Dobbie. Registering the win between the pipes for Long Island was goalie Devon Willis.
