Rockford Thunder News Release

LEAGUE CITY, Texas - The Texas Thunder's offensive problems continued on Wednesday night as they were shut out by league veteran and Connecticut Brakettes ace Kaci Clark, 1-0, at Big League Dreams in League City.

Christa Williams had what looked to be a third strike on Brakette's catcher Germain Fairchild, but the pitch was called a ball by the home plate umpire. Three pitches later it came back to bite the Thunder as Fairchild left the yard on a 3-2 pitch to give Connecticut the only run needed in the game.

The run Williams and the Thunder allowed in the fifth inning was the only run of the contest as they two pitches threw up zeros the rest of the way. Williams and Clark basically went pitch for pitch, as both outstanding hurlers allowed just two hits in the game for their respective clubs, with both of the Brakettes coming in the fifth inning.

Williams, now 8-1 on the season, struck out eight batters in the game to improve on her league-high. Clark struck out six on the night on her way to her first win of the season. She is now 1-2 on the year.

The win improved the Brakettes to 11-5 on the season, while the hometown Thunder dropped to 12-9.

The same two teams will lock-up for a single game Thursday night at Big League Dreams in League City. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the complex and Nicole Neuerburg is penciled in to be the starter for the Thunder.

Thursday night will also be giveaway night for the Thunder. The team will be giving away free workout sessions at Velocity Sports Performance all night long, as well as a free one-night stay at the Hilton Galveston Resort. Also, general admission tickets will be buy two, get one free for the game.

And as always the Thursday night will be "Thursday Night with Buffalo Wild Wings." If Texas scores three or more runs in the third inning all fans in attendance will receive six free wings from the Buffalo Wild Wings - Webster Plaza location.
