
London Strikes Power in Pre-Season Affair

(OSHAWA, ON) Durham's Team, the Oshawa Power kicked off the 2012-2013 pre- season with a home game match-up against the London Lightning however; it was the inaugural NBL champs who walked away with the road victory 109-102. The London squad led for the majority of the game with a balanced scoring attack from five different players with double digits.
Pete Brown of Oshawa helped the Power bring the game within a 3 point "striking distance" with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter.
Veteran player, Rodney Buford led the Lightning in scoring with 19 points shooting 54% from the field.
Nick Okorie was Oshawa's leader in the scoring department with 19 points. The Power also received contributions from Jushay Rockett who netted 17 and both Larry Diamond and Michael Culp each with 10 apiece.
Power Notes:
Head coach Robert Brickey sat on the sidelines for this pre-season match-up to evaluate talent as the Power works towards solidifying its roster for the start of the 2012-2013 campaign.
Last season's first overall draft pick, Morgan Lewis made his first return to the GM Centre since being traded to London in the off season.
Durham's team second round pick in this season's NBL draft, Amani Daanish scored 11 points in his Oshawa Power debut.
This was the first game the London Lightning were without last season's NBL MVP, Gabe Freeman who recently accepted terms to an agreement to play overseas in the Philippines.
The Power will open up the NBL season on the road as they travel to Windsor to take on the Express on November 3, 2012 and the home opener takes place on November 10, 2012 at the GM Centre to take on the same Windsor squad. Game time is 7:00pm EST. Catch it live at www.powerbasketball.ca.
