Local Player signs with Crush
October 17, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Buzz News Release
From the championship court of Mater Dei High School in Orange County, California, to his fast-break command at Saint Mary's College, Kamran Sufi has brought lots of excitement to basketball. He is a master of assists and steals, and his numbers back it up. While in college, Sufi averaged 7.5 assists and 2 steals per game.
Sufi has also participated in the Fila Summer Pro League and averaged 8 points per game and 7 assists.
Sufi met with Coach Earl Cureton and General Manager Kevin Copeland at the Atrium Hotel in Irvine and signed a contract to play with the Orange County Crush basketball team.
"Sufi is definitely the type of player that will fit into the scheme of the Orange County Crush basketball program," said Coach Cureton.
Kamran Sufi is the first Pakistani player to participate in the American Basketball Association.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
