The Lowell Spinners, short-season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are proud to welcome Lance Zawadzki as the newest addition to the 2018 coaching staff. This will be Zawadzki's first professional coaching experience.
Zawadzki, a native of Framingham, MA and graduate of St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, MA, will serve as an assistant coach for the 2018 season. He joins a staff that consists of new manager Corey Wimberly, new pitching coach Nick Green, and second-year hitting coach Nate Spears.
"We are thrilled to have Lance on our coaching staff for the upcoming season!" said Spinners General Manager Shawn Smith. "As a Massachusetts native, I'm sure he will bring a unique perspective to our players on what it takes to succeed as a member of the Red Sox organization."
Zawadzki played professionally from 2007-2017 after being drafted by the San Diego Padres in the fourth round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft. He made his major league debut with the Padres in 2010 where he appeared in 20 games as a utility infielder. Following his time with the Padres, Zawadzki spent time in the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations from 2011-2013. He spent the last four years of his professional career playing independent ball before retiring after the 2017 season.
After graduating from St. John's High School, Zawadzki attended Louisiana State University for one year before transferring to San Diego State University. He played a summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Wareham Gatemen in 2005. He finished his collegiate career at Lee University where he played in the 2007 NAIA World Series.
