New York Lizards News Release

4/16/08 8:12 AM- Mitchel Athletic Complex will once again be the home of the Long Island Lizards for their 2008 Season. Located in the heart of Nassau County adjacent to the Nassau Coliseum, Hofstra University and Nassau Community College, the MAC is a premier facility that has been the host of the Lizards for the last three years.

The stadium and facility were built in 1986 for the United States' Goodwill Games. Last year MAC added a brand new, state of the art Sprinturf Field. "Last year the County made the decision to upgrade the facility and add a new turf field. Our players love the playing surface and the new look it has created for the Stadium," said Lizards' President Dave Kotowski.

Working closely with the County Executives office and the Department of Parks, the Lizards and the MAC have joined forces this year to create a true fan experience that is affordable to all families on Long Island. Each Lizards home game will feature the Dave & Buster's Fan Zone, which opens up two hours before the start of each game. The Fan Zone is the centerpiece of pre-game activity and is filled with fun and games for everyone to enjoy. "Whether it be face painting, our DJ dance area or some of the lacrosse related games like our Warrior fastest shot contest, we have created a carnival like experience for our fans to enjoy and remember," said Kotowski.

"Our mission statement as an organization focuses on three things: providing affordable, fan friendly entertainment, growing the game of lacrosse and actively becoming part of our local communities. Our partnership with Nassau County and Mitchel allows us to hit all three of these goals."

Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi had this to say on the Lizards, "I am pleased that the Long Island Lizards have decided to continue to call Mitchel Field their home. Major League Lacrosse at Mitchel Field offers Long Islanders the chance to watch professional lacrosse right in their own backyards, and I look forward to many more winning seasons for the Lizards."

The Lizards open up their home campaign against their East Coast Division Rivals the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday, May 17th at 7:00 pm. Following Rochester, the Lizards travel to Dallas, Texas On May 25th for a key game against the Philadelphia Barrage, last years Major League Lacrosse Champions.
