Dragons Head Coach, Tom Slate adds to the 2008 Coaching Staff

Joe Romano and Jack Morrison to join Ned Webster as assistant coaches.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 15, 2008 Burlingame (CA) - Dragons Head Coach, Tom Slate has named Joe Romano and Jack Morrison to the 2008 Dragons staff. Romano and Morrison join Ned Webster as assistant coaches. "These men have everything you want in assistant coaches. Romano absolutely loves the game and is enthusiastic and gung ho about the players and the team. Morrison understands the game thoroughly as the X's and O's man. They will be perfect compliments to Webster," said Head Coach Tom Slate. "As a Head Coach you want to surround yourself with guys that know a lot about the game and they all do," he added. "We are excited to have both Jack and Joe join our staff. Both bring solid experience to our organization and we are fortunate to have them with us," said Doug Locker, Dragons' Executive Vice President and General Manager. The coaches and players will be meeting for their first training sessions in Philadelphia on April 26 and 27. The training camps will include a scrimmage with the Philadelphia Barrage at St. Joseph's University at 10:30 AM EST, April 27.

"I am looking forward to seeing where these guys are in their game. We have players currently competing in the NLL and others have been playing some club lacrosse, so the trainings will help us identify strengths and weaknesses." Slate went on to add, "We play the Barrage on Sunday so that will be a great assessment of our team unity." Joe Romano: Romano is in his first season with the Dragons after having served as the Head Lacrosse Coach at Division II Notre Dame de Namur University since 2002. In addition, he is currently an Assistant Coach with the San Jose Stealth of the National Lacrosse League.

At NDNU, he posted a career record of 39 and 13, guiding the team to national recognition during his tenure there achieving a national ranking of 7th. Prior to that he was an assistant coach at Whittier College (CA) from 2001 - 2002, under, then Head Coach, Doug Locker as the team became the first California NCAA program to reach the NCAA Playoffs.

A 2000 graduate of Whittier College, he played for four seasons serving as a team Captain. Romano is currently College Counselor at Bellarmine College Preparatory School in San Jose.

Jack Morrison: Morrison is in his first season with the Dragons and currently the Assistant Lacrosse Coach at St. Joseph's University (PA) where he has been for the past three seasons. Prior to working at St. Joseph's, he served as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at West Chester University (PA) for two seasons.

The native of Ridley, Pennsylvania played collegiately at Whittier College where he was selected to the NCAA Division III annual North - South All Star Game. He also played for the USCLA MAB Philadelphia Club Championship team in 2006.

Ned Webster: Ned Webster is in his second year as assistant lacrosse coach with the Dragons. Webster began his playing career at Boys' Latin School (MD) where he lettered for three years in both lacrosse and soccer; earning MIAA All Star honors his senior season. He played lacrosse at the University of Notre Dame where his career was cut short due to back-to-back ACL tears. Currently, he is in his third year as Head Lacrosse Coach at Dominican University of California in San Rafael.

Webster comes from a lacrosse family as his father was a Hall of Fame attackman and three times National Champion at Johns Hopkins University. His brothers, Jim and John, played at the University of Virginia and the University of North Carolina, respectively, while cousin David Webster is the Head Lacrosse Coach at Dickinson College (PA).
