Lizards Announce 12-Man Protected Roster

Garden City, NY (Oct. 8, 2015) - The New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse announced its 12-man protected roster for the 2016 season in preparation for the expansion draft next month. After claiming the 2015 World Title, many of the Lizards seek for a repeat season, however a lot of uncertainty hangs in the air as the 2016 season approaches.
As Greg "Beast" Gurenlian put it prior to the Championship Title Game, "A lot is going to be different next season. It's inevitable that the league will expand because lacrosse is growing exponentially. Now is the time to win."
And that they did. But now comes the hard part.
Last month, Lizards Head Coach Joe Spallina announced the 23-man roster, only to have to cut down the list even more. Those on the 12-man protected roster include:

Ned Crotty (M)
Steve DeNapoli (M)
Joe Fletcher (D)
Matt Gibson (A)
Greg Gurenlian (M/FO)
Kyle Hartzell (D)
Steve Holmes (D)
JoJo Marasco (M)
Tommy Palasek (A)
Rob Pannell (A)
Paul Rabil (M)
The MLL Expansion Draft takes place on Wednesday, November 18th at 2 p.m. ET. The draft will be 15 rounds. Once a team loses three players, it can pull back one. Once a team loses six players, it can reclaim all unclaimed players from their 23-man protected roster.
Following the Expansion Draft, the MLL Supplemental Draft will take place on Wednesday, December 16th at 2 p.m. ET.
