New York Lizards News Release

Garden City, NY (Oct. 8, 2015) - The New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse announced today a trade that will send New York Lizards Midfielder, Ned Crotty, to the Rochester Rattlers in exchange for Midfielder, Dave Lawson, and a fifth round pick in the 2016 MLL Collegiate Draft.

Lawson was acquired by the Rattlers in the 2013 Collegiate Draft after playing lacrosse for four years at Duke University. His college recruitment to Duke came off the title of number eight recruit in the country by Inside Lacrosse coming out of Middlesex High School in Westford, Massachusetts, where he was both a U.S. Lacrosse and Under Armour All-American. While at Duke, he assisted his team to the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship and was subsequently named a First-Team All-American.

During his three seasons with the Rattlers, Lawson played in 34 regular season games putting up 66 goals, 24 assists and 39 groundballs. He also has two consecutive years of playoff experience, including the 2015 season in which he put up a goal and a ground ball against the Lizards in the MLL Championship Game.

"Dave is a dynamic two way midfielder that has the experience of playing with some of our guys on the U.S. team. We think the world of him as a player," said Lizards Head Coach, Joe Spallina. "We're very excited about his offensive impact on our lineup. Dave is one of the top scoring midfielders in the league this past season and is the type of player that can take the game over."

Meanwhile, Rochester is not unknown territory for Ned Crotty. The Lizards Midfielder was previously a Rattlers Attackman from the 2011 through 2013 seasons prior to a trade that sent him to New York. The attackman turned midfielder put up equally impressive numbers despite the position change, which included 28 goals, 19 assists, and 25 ground balls through 24 regular season games in New York.

"I want to thank Ned for his time in New York. He's a great player and true professional while also being a fantastic teammate and part of our championship run," said Spallina. "I wish him the best of luck in Rochester."

Dave Lawson replaces Crotty on the Lizards 12-man protected roster announced earlier today ahead of the MLL Expansion Draft taking place on November 18th at 2 p.m. ET.
