Dayton Dutch Lions News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - Pittsburgh Riverhounds (3-6-5) travel to Miami Valley South Stadium July 4th to take on the Dayton Dutch Lions (1-7-6), both coming off ties with frontrunner Orlando City.

The teams first met in Pittsburgh on April 21, with Seth C'deBaca and Agustino Nunez recording goals in the 17th and 81st minutes, respectively.

Then on June 9th, the Lions were at home and defender Mettin Copier, assisted by Eli Garner, struck late in the game at the 81st minute. But the Lions could not hold off the Riverhounds as Darren Amoo scored six minutes later to end the game in a 1-1 tie.

Gerrit-Jan Bartels leads the Lions, and is tied in 4th in the league, in assists with three, while Garner has 7 points making him tied in 14th along with Gibson Bardsley who also has 7 points and leads the league in shots with 35. The match will be aggressive and physical as the Riverhounds claim four of the top ten in fouls and the Lions have two.

"It is going to be a tough game because Pittsburgh is a really physical team," said Lions Head Coach Ivar Van Dinteren. "We will play our own game. If we want keep our chance to go to the playoffs, we must win this game and the team and I are very confident we can."

Dayton travels to New York to take on the Rochester Rhinos on July 7, followed by the Harrisburg City Islanders on July 13. The Lions return to Miami Valley South Stadium Wednesday July 18 for a rematch with the Islanders. For season and individual game tickets, visit the Dutch Lions website.
