Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that the team will hold an online poll for fans to select the design of a limited edition jersey for the upcoming season. The limited edition jerseys will be worn by the players on opening night - Friday, October 20th - and fans can get their very own by purchasing a minimum of a 12-game mini-season plan.

"This jersey is about providing our biggest fans with a terrific value," said Jeff Longo, president of the Checkers. "We're providing our season and mini-season package holders with a great way to show their Checkers pride. With a commitment of just 12 games, or more, fans will receive their own limited edition jersey."

Fans will be able to cast their vote online at www.gocheckers.com beginning at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 7th and the poll will close Sunday, October 1st.

"The jersey will serve as a great way for our staff, our players, and fans in general to easily identify our biggest supporters each and every time we see them," Longo added. It will be a great opportunity for the Checkers organization to know which fans deserve a special recognition each time we see them walking the concourse or cheering for the team inside the arena."

Checkers players will wear the jerseys on Friday, October 20th against the Wheeling Nailers. Following the game, the game-worn jerseys will be put up for auction at www.gocheckers.com.

The 2006-2007 marks the 14th season for the Charlotte Checkers in the ECHL. Season tickets are on sale now and single game tickets will go on sale October 4th. Call 704-342-4-ICE (4423) to reserve your seats today.
