The Lightning leave it all on the pitch for each home game at Mockingbird. As intense as the action gets, it's nothing compared to playing in a big furry costume! The Lightning and Vortex will let the mascots duel at halftime of Friday's game to determine the toughest mascot in town! Will it be the Cardinal Bird? The Lightning Shock Squad? LIGHTNING'S TED NICHOLS SAYS TEAM STILL ALIVE FOR POSTSEASON, US OPEN The Louisville Lightning lost a close game to the Cincinnati Kings last weekend, but despite the loss, there is plenty to play for. The Lightning stumbled out of the gate earlier this season, but the schedule still sets up for a winning streak and postseason run.

Lightning coach Ted Nichols said earlier this week the team is focused on earning a postseason berth and winning the US Open. You can read all of Ted's comments here.

LIGHTNING ANNOUNCE AFFILIATION WITH ORLANDO CITY; HAGERTY, YEAGLE INVITED TO CAMP

The Lightning announced earlier this week an affiliation with the Orlando City Soccer Club of the USL-PRO. The club, formerly known as the Austin Aztex, is also affiliated with Stoke City of the English Premier League.

Orlando City have also invited Lightning stars Darren Yeagle and Chad Hagerty to their preseason camp, as the team prepares to play the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. You can read more about the affiliation and invitations here.

CINCINNATI KINGS HANG ON FOR 10-7 WIN OVER LIGHTNING The Lightning hosted their rivals from Cincinnati last Saturday at Mockingbird, and despite a hard-fought game, the squad fell to the Kings 10-7 in front of a season-record crowd. Cincinnati's Jeff Hughes, Sam Fiore, and Kwame Sarkodie led the way for the visitors. Simon Bird led the Lightning with two goals, while five others hit the back of the net for the hosts.

The Lightning are hosting Kids' Night this Friday as the Ohio Vortex roll into town for a crucial PASL match. The team is still chasing a playoff wildcard berth, and a win over the Vortex is vital. In addition to Kids' Night, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will be in attendance, and the Lightning will be fightning hard to put together a winning-streak to close out the regular season. We need your help in gaining the home advantage, so come support us Friday night at 8 PM! Go Lightning!
