Louisville Lightning News Release
LOUISVILLE, KY (January 20, 2012) - The Louisville Lightning will battle for playoff position against the Illinois Piasa this Friday night at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex at 7:30pm. Gates open at 6:30pm with free Louisville Lightning souvenir cups, sponsored by Heartland Payment Systems, for the first 250 fans to arrive. Fans age 21 and over can also enjoy the Yellow Cab Happy Hour, with $1 Budweiser products available through the entire first half.
As 2012 begins, the Louisville Lightning (6-4) find themselves with their destiny in their own hands and in a prime position to qualify for the Eastern Division playoffs for the first time in history. The black and yellow are 1-1 against the Piasa so far this season. Two weeks ago, the Lightning thrilled fans with a high scoring match at home, defeating the Piasa 15-4. Illinois currently sits in fifth among Eastern Division teams. Only the top four teams from the Eastern Division qualify for the first round of playoffs this season.
Louisville's schedule for the upcoming weeks is favorable, with four home games and only two road trips against the Ohio Vortex and Kansas Magic. Every win matters and every team is dangerous, especially when fighting for survival at the end of the season. However, the Lightning's toughest challenges may be in February, when the team faces a strong and somewhat unpredictable Kansas Magic team at home and a powerful core of veteran players from the Detroit Waza during the last game of the regular season.
Tickets are still available for Friday's match. For more information about the Louisville Lightning's third season of action and to order tickets, visit the official team web site at www.louisvillelightning.com or call (502) 896-2412 x106.
