September 15, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Louisville Lightning News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY (September 15, 2011) -- Tryouts for the 2011-2012 Louisville Lightning Professional and Reserve Indoor Soccer teams will be held September 17 and 18, at the Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex located at 3000 Mellwood Ave. All indoor, outdoor, professional, and amateur adult soccer players are welcome to attend. Players are expected to be physically fit and able to participate in rigorous activity.

Official tryouts will occur on Saturday, Sept. 17th from 3-5pm, and Sunday from 2-5pm. Players should arrive one hour early for registration and instruction on both days. The cost is only $40 for registration prior to September 17. Walk-up registrations are welcome for $50. Up to 50 participants will be invited to a final tryout on September 25th, from 2-5 pm, and/or may be included in preseason camp. Others may be invited to participate on the Hispanic-based Juventus Lightning team.

According to the Louisville Lightning's General Manager, Nick Stover, there is a need to fill 35 positions on the Professional and Reserve teams this season. Between 50 and 75 players typically attended the open tryout sessions in the first and second year. However, this should not be a deterrent to those who might be interested this year.

"No players have been signed as of yet for this season, so every spot is up for grabs," said Stover. "The Lightning provides an opportunity for every aspiring soccer player to become a professional athlete. In our first two years, we have had players join us from the MLS, from top intercollegiate programs, and even from local recreational leagues. Everyone has an equal opportunity of living the dream."

The interest surrounding Lightning tryouts and the roster for season three increased so much recently that an online blog has begun to report rumors, allow for fan commentary, and provide updates leading up to season three. The blog, entitled "When Lightning Strike," is organized by fans of the team and will likely continue throughout the 2011-2012 season. It can be found online at http://louisvillelightning.wordpress.com.

Interested players should log on to www.louisvillelightning.com/tryouts for more information about the Louisville Lightning professional, reserve, and Hispanic-based team tryouts. The official schedule for the Louisville Lightning Professional Indoor Soccer team will be released in September. Regular season games begin November 4, 2011, and run through February, 2012.
