London Lightning News Release

(HALIFAX, NS) The London Lightning start their quick two-game east coast road trip with a win over the hometown Halifax Hurricanes Tuesday night at the Scotiabank Centre. In true Lightning fashion, they were able to overcome a slow first half that saw them lose two different nine point leads before heading into the halftime, down 56-55. London has proved to be a second half team this season as they held the Canes to just 16 third quarter points. After regaining the lead in the second half and going up by as many as 12 points, the Lightning never let up and closed out the game with an 11 point win.

As a team, London was able to continue their team defense, forcing the Hurricanes to just 5 of 27 shooting from behind the arc and 44% shooting. The Bolts were also able to hold the league's leading scorer, Antoine Mason, to just 15 points. On the other side of the ball, the Lightning's hot shooting from the field and beyond the arc continued as they connected on 11 of their three point attempts while shooting a red-hot 53% from the field. Tonight's game marks the fourth time in the team's last five that they have been able to shoot 50% or better on the night.

Six Lightning players reach double-digit scoring led by big man, Mareik Isom's 24 points and 9 rebounds.

After a slow first half, Xavier Moon was able to come alive late and finish the game with 21 points on 10- 16 shooting. Anthony Gaines Jr added 18 points off the bench while Marcus Capers made his return to the lineup and scored 17 points in the start.

The Lightning's three-game roadtrip continues this Thursday as the team makes their way to Moncton to take on the reigning NBL Canada champs, Moncton Magic. The Bolts will return home February 1st to take on the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans.
