BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced that standout defenseman Quade Lightbody and forward Tyrel Lucas have signed for the 2007-2008 season.

Lightbody served as an alternate captain last season and returns for his fifth campaign with the Mudbugs. The Port Elgin, Ontario, native has played over 200 games with the Mudbugs organization, and surpassed the 700 career penalty minute mark in the fall of last season.

"Quade has continued to gain the respect of his peers year after year in the Central Hockey League and we're glad to have his experience and grit back for this season," said Mudbugs Head Coach Scott Muscutt. "You'll be hard pressed to find a player who cares and gives as much to the community and his teammates as Lightbody does."

The Mudbugs also announced the signing of Tyrel Lucas. The 6-1 180 pound forward hails from Williams Lake, British Columbia, and returns to the Mudbugs following an amateur player tryout during the 2007 post-season.

"The start of a new season is as exciting now as it was back when I played junior hockey," said Lightbody. "My appreciation for the game seems to grow more each year and I can't wait to get started again."

Lucas played four years in the WHL in Lethbridge and Calgary where he totaled 100 points in 169 games. He then played two seasons at the University of Calgary, posting over 20 assists in each season. "I've been looking forward to starting my pro career and there's no better place for it than Bossier-Shreveport," said Lucas.

"We really liked what we saw when Ty skated with the team in the spring," said Muscutt. "He brings size, strength and speed up front."

The Mudbugs begin the 2007-2008 season on October 19th against the Mississippi RiverKings. The home opener is the following night as Dan Wildfong's Texas Brahmas come to town on Saturday, October 20th. Group tickets are available by calling the front office at 318-752-BUGS (2847).
