Kentucky Horsemen News Release
Lexington, KY - Mike Zuckerman, head coach of the Lexington Horsemen, announced his resignation Wednesday, effective at the conclusion of the 2007 season, citing a desire to spend time with family.
"My wife and I have been aware of Coach Zuckerman's resignation for six weeks, but we understand why he has decided to resign," Horsemen owner Lennie House said. "Coach Zuckerman has personal commitments that need to be dealt with and we understand that he cannot continue to coach and meet his personal obligations. He will be missed by my wife and I, the Horsemen players and coaches, and most certainly, the community."
Zuckerman is in his second season with the Horsemen, holding a career record of 21-10. His team notched a 14-3 record in 2006, culminating in a United Bowl II berth, and recorded a franchise-best 13-2 mark during the regular season.
Before being named the team's head coach, Zuckerman served as the squad's assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for two seasons. He also has nearly 20 seasons of high school coaching experience.
The Horsemen have begun their search for a new head coach.
