Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - After splitting the first two games of their series in Montreal, the Lewiston MAINEiacs knew that there was still a lot of work to be done on home ice. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the MAINEiacs got right down to business, picking up back-to-back victories to take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven series against the Montreal Junior.

Game three on Tuesday was certainly the more dramatic of the two games, as the contest was tied for all but a grand total of 50 seconds. Montreal took the lead at the 16:02 mark of the second period on a goal by Trevor Parkes, only to see Sam Carrier even things up 45 seconds later. The score stayed that way until the dying seconds of regulation, when Etienne Brodeur put the MAINEiacs ahead with 5.2 seconds remaining. Nicholas Champion made 28 saves, earning the win against Jean-Francois Berube, who stopped 17 shots.

Game four was also close for a good portion of the game, as the two sides continue to battle through the series. Both teams netted power play goals during the first 40 minutes of play, as Michael Chaput and David Rose made the score 1-1 after two. In the third period, Kirill Kabanov found the back of the net twice, before Antoine Houde-Caron capped the victory with an empty netter. Nicholas Champion made 31 saves in the win for Lewiston, while Jean-Francois Berube stopped 27 shots for Montreal.

Game five between the MAINEiacs and Junior will take place on Friday night at 7:05 at Verdun Auditorium.
