After tenures in the D League, France, & Iceland - he brought his talents (& limitless range) to Canada's Professional Basketball League, NBL Canada, during the 2013-14 season. In his debut postseason with the Halifax Rainmen, Matthews would erupt to new heights. He increased his scoring average to 18.6 Points (+5), shooting 42% from Three during Halifax's playoff run. They would win their first round contest to the St Johns Mill Rats in 4 games (3-1) and go 6 games with the Island Storm in the semi-finals
