
Leget Named Coordinator of Sports Medicine; Hicks Joins as Head Athletic Trainer

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today the promotion of Michelle Leget to the title of Coordinator of Sports Medicine for the Comets. Samantha Hicks, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, has been hired by the team to fill the position of head athletic trainer.
Leget enters her eighth season with the Comets. She spent her first seven seasons as the head athletic trainer after joining the organization in May of 1997. Leget will oversee all of the team's preventative care, treatment and rehabilitation as well as administrative responsibilities.
Hicks joins the Comets after working as a clinical coordinator at Baylor College of Medicine Orthopedic Surgery, where she assisted in providing healthcare to orthopedic injuries sustained by athletes and the general public. She also served as the head athletic trainer for the Houston Stealth of the National Women's Basketball League during the 2003 NWBL season. Hicks will be responsible for the daily management and prevention of injuries, physical therapy and rehabilitation of the players. She will also serve in an administrative role as traveling secretary, assisting with the organization of all team travel.
While attending college, Hicks served as a student intern assistant with the Comets training staff (2002, 2003) and performed an athletic training internship with the Houston Rockets (2003). She was also a graduate assistant athletic trainer and teaching assistant at Eastern Kentucky.
A native of Evergreen Park, Illinois, Hicks received her bachelor's degree in exercise and sports studies from Tarleton State University in 2001. She went on to earn a master's degree in exercise and sports studies from Eastern Kentucky in 2003. Hicks grew up in Houston and attended Klein Forest High School.
