Albany Legends News Release

Behind a 9 point opening period from Reynoldo Howard Jr, the Gary Splash jumped out to an 8 point first quarter lead at 28-20 as the visitors shot 44% to the defending IBL champs 32%. But the lead was short lived in the 2nd Qtr. as the Legends went on a 12 - 4 run through the first 6 minutes of the period, with Chris Grant's 3 pointer tying it up at 32 all with 8:27 left. Albany ran it up with a 34 point quarter taking a 54-42 lead into the locker room while improving their shooting to 46% including 5 for 8 from behind the arc in the quarter as EJ Gallop and Emanuel Mayben each dropped in a pair of long range jumpers. Deandre Thomas paced Albany's balanced first half scoring with 10, while BJ Walker led all scorers with 14 at the Break.

As the second half got underway, the Splash's defense was in high gear holding the Legends to just 1 point over the first 4:15, while reeling off 11 points to close the gap to 1, 54-53 when EJ Gallop hit the 3rd of his 5 treys on the night to give albany some breathing room. Gary hung in and took the lead at 62-61 with Robert Eldridge, perfect 3 for 3 from the line with 5:12 in the quarter followed by a jumper by Andrew Zimmer to move into a 3 point lead. But Lloyd Johnson tied it up with a 3 just seconds later enroute to his team high 24 points on the night. Add another 3 by Gallop at the 2:25 mark, and Albany took a 6 point lead into the final 12:00 at 79-73. Behind the hustle of Scott Morton's often acrobatic performance, keeping balls from going out of bounds, shot blocking and rebounding, along with the speed of the combo Lloyds (Johnson and Clinton) in the fourth, Albany extended the lead despite tough play by the Splash in the Quarter. Morton's hustle was seen in a team high 11 rebound, 4 blocked shot highlight reel performance.

Gary's BJ Walker led all scorers with 26 on the night. Reynoldo Howard, jr. added 21 for the 2-3 Splash. Clinton and Gallop each totaled 17 for the Legends and DeAndre Thomas dropped in 15 on the night. Albany moves to 4-1 on the season.

The 2 teams will face off one more time tomorrow night. Tip off at 6:00PM at Christian Brothers Academy in Colonie.
