February 5, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Carolina Cobras News Release

CHARLOTTE Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum entertainer Lee Greenwood will sing the national anthem and perform at halftime during the Carolina Cobras home opener at the Charlotte Coliseum on Friday, February 14 against the Detroit Fury.

The Cobras and their fans will be sending their hearts out to our troops overseas on Valentine's Day. Fans will be able to record video greetings for the troops courtesy of Time Warner Cable, and the first 12,000 in attendance will receive an American flag. In addition, the Cobras will be "passing the helmet" to accept donations for paramedic Tim Hayes, who was critically injured while tending to accident victims during last month¹s snow storm.

Greenwood is a multi-time winner of the Country Music Association's Male Vocalist of the Year, and he received a Grammy award in 1984 in the category of Best Male Country Vocal Performance. His first three albums each achieved gold record status and his Greatest Hits album went platinum. His hit song "God Bless the USA" earned him Song of the Year honors from the Country Music Association and the Music City News in 1985.

During and after the Gulf War in 1991, Greenwood was one of the most sought after performers in the business. He often played two or three shows per day to show his support for the military and veterans. In 1995, Greenwood decided to take a break from touring, and in 1996 he opened the Lee Greenwood Theater in the Smokey Mountains. After a five-year run, Greenwood returned to the studio in 2000 and began touring again in 2001.

Tickets for the home opener against Detroit as well as all eight home games can be purchased at the Charlotte Coliseum box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 704-522-6500. Single-game tickets for all 2003 home games are available in the following prices: $8 (lower level end zones), $15 (lower level corners) and $25 (lower level sideline).

Full season plans, four game mini-plans and packages for groups of 10 or more are still available and can be purchased by contacting the Cobras ticket office at 1-877-4COBRAS or 704-940-2300.
