Law Travel to Salina for Rematch with Bombers

April 11, 2014 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) - Dodge City Law News Release

On Saturday, the Dodge City Law will vie to retain the Prairie Wheel Trophy when they face-off against the Salina Bombers.

Two weeks ago, the Law earned a thrilling 34-31 victory over Salina at United Wireless Arena when Alex Fambrough kicked a field goal as time expired.

Last week, the Law beat the Bloomington Edge 57-47, while Salina had a bye week.

Law Head Coach Sean Ponder expects Salina to be rested and ready for the rematch.

"The Bombers have had two weeks to stew over their loss to us," Ponder said. "We were really excited after winning that game and we enjoyed our victory. Those guys saw how much fun we were having, so I am sure they are ready to take us on again and try to get some revenge."

The win over Salina was Law quarterback Joshua Floyd, Jr.'s debut with the team. Ponder knows that other teams have now had the opportunity to see Floyd on film and prepare for him.

"Josh had been with us for only one day when we played Salina," Ponder said. "I don't think anybody could have predicted how well he would play in that game. He did really well, but now the secret is out. Salina and all of the other teams in the league have plenty of film on Josh and they have a better idea of what we are trying to do offensively."

This week Ponder and his fellow coaches have continued the process of acclimating Floyd to the offense and installing new plays.

"Salina has a really good defense," Ponder said. "They've got a lot of strength and speed on their defensive line. We've been trying to give Josh more options offensively by adding to his body of knowledge and adding new plays to his repertoire."

Though Salina has a very good defense, Ponder added that the Bombers are not a one-dimensional team.

"Against Salina, we played pretty well on offense and defense," Ponder said. "They hung right in there with us until the final seconds of the game. You have to give them credit for that. If we are going to beat them again, we will need to have a good showing on offense and defense for the entire 60 minutes of the game."
