
Late Minot surge drops Eagles

Ray Cunningham took over the fourth quarter for Minot, scoring 14 points leading the Skyrockets to a 113-102 win over the Utah Eagles in Salt Lake City. Steve Castleberry dominated the middle and Dale Miller controlled the permiter in the Minot win.
Lenny Cooke started the game hot, driving baseline for 8 points in the first quarter. Castleberry joined in with 6 points on offensive second chance points as Minot led after one period 31-29. Rob Griffin led Utah with 7 points.
The second quarter featured John Millsap and his 9 points for Utah. Bryant Markson added 8 points slashing through the lane, but Castleberry had 11 points in the period and led Minot to a 57-53 advantage at the half
Castleberry and Cunningham kept things hot with a combined 13 points to offset the 7 by Markson and six by Josh Nigut off the Utah bench. Four points late for Mike Hall tied the game at 81 a piece at the end of three periods.
Cunningham simply dominated the fourth quarter. Willie Chandler started the fourth with two three pointers, but Cunningham fired away at Utah defenders for 14 points as Minot took a close game and widened the lead to as many as 15 in the final period.
Cunningham led all scorers with 29 points, while Castleberry added 23. Miller had 16 and Lenny Cooke finished with 15 for the winners. Markson and Griffin led Utah with 19, while Millsap and Hall chipped in 18 and 17 respectively.
