Late Interception Seals Revs' Fat E

Texas Revolution News Release

Frisco - An interception by running back Darius Fudge late in the fourth quarter would cost the Revs a close game to the Wichita Force by a final score of 30-27.

After the Revolution added to their lead with a field goal by Jarrod Haynes to make it 27-22 with 9:21 left to play, the team appeared as if they were on their way to scoring a go-ahead touchdown on the following drive. The Revs began what should have been their final drive of the game by conservatively running the ball twice for a couple short gains. On their third play from scrimmage, quarterback Tanner Marsh would float a pass to the Force's Evan Ray that would see a pick-6 negated by an illegal formation penalty. Just a few plays later, as Darius Fudge looked to run the ball in to the end zone to put the game out of reach, he crossed the line of scrimmage in what would have been a forward lateral and ended up throwing an interception that would eventually enable the Force to score the game-winning touchdown.

Fudge's late interception was not indicative of his day overall though. All three of the Revs' touchdowns came on rushes by their star running back.

Texas would dominate in most offensive statistical categories from total yardage to time of possession. However, in the end the difference seemed to be the Revolution almost doubled their opponents' total penalty yards with 91-yards to the Force's 48-yards and many of those taking place in the fourth quarter.

The Revs will play their next game on the road in search of their first win against the Duke City Gladiators on April 14 at Tingley Coliseum.
