La'Tangela Atkinson, A'Quonesia Franklin and Aja Parham added to camp roster

SEATTLE, Thursday, May 7, 2009 - Seattle Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Brian Agler announced today three additions to the team's 2009 training camp roster: 6-1 guard/forward La'Tangela Atkinson, 5-4 guard A'Quonesia Franklin and 6-0 guard/forward Aja Parham.

Atkinson, selected by the Indiana Fever in the first round (9th overall pick) of the 2006 WNBA Draft, played in five games for the Sacramento Monarchs in 2008, averaging 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Atkinson has played in 66 career WNBA games with averages of 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. The North Carolina graduate was the first player in ACC history to record more than 1,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds and 350 career assists.

Franklin averaged 1.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 34 games for the Monarchs in 2008. Selected by Sacramento in the third round (38th overall pick) of the 2008 WNBA Draft, the Texas A&M graduate finished her career ranked third all-time for the Aggies and fifth best in the Big 12 record books with 627 assists. Franklin also ranked 12th all-time in career scoring with 1,115 points, second all-time in career three-pointers made with 157 and sixth all-time in career steals with 209.

Parham has played the past two seasons in Portugal for team Olivais, averaging 16.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.0 assists per game in 2008-09; she averaged 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 3.3 assists during the 2007-08 season. A 2006 graduate of Boston College, Parham was the team's co-captain and played in all 33 games during her senior season. Also as a senior, Parham was named to the ACC First All-Defense Team and led the Eagles with 67 steals while averaging 9.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

The 2009 Seattle Storm training camp roster now stands at 17 players.

The Seattle Storm will open its 2009 WNBA schedule on Saturday, June 6 in a 1 p.m. matchup vs. the Monarchs at ARCO Arena in Sacramento. The Storm returns to Seattle on Sunday, June 7 for its first KeyArena home game at 6 p.m., also against the Monarchs. The team's June 7, 2009 home opener falls on the 10th anniversary of the city of Seattle being selected as one of four cities to receive a WNBA expansion team in 2000.
