Largest Minor League Firework Finale
June 30, 2007 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
CASPER, Wyoming - To help celebrate Independence Day, The Casper Rockies will be hosting the Nation's Largest Fireworks Finale on July 3rd.
Approximately 15 minutes after the July 3rd game against the Orem Owlz, the Rockies will present a traditional 10 minute firework show, produced by Lantis Fireworks, followed by a separate 5 minute grand finale.
To ensure a full 5 minute finale the Rockies are shooting the largest, legal firework shell in the United States. The "Red Chrysanthemum" shell is 16 inches in diameter. A normal firework shell is 2 ½ inches in diameter. The "RC" will fire a spherical break of colored stars, similar to a peony, but with stars that leave a visible trail of sparks. The "RC" will launch an estimated 1200 to 1500 feet in the sky and its bloom will stretch about 100 to 150 feet wide.
The National Fire Prevention Association has instituted guidelines inregards to shooting shells as large as the "RC." To shoot the shell the Rockies needed to find a separate piece of land with enough free space to comply with the NFPA's guidelines. The City of Casper agreed to let the Rockies use a piece of land, in an undisclosed location, close to Mike Lansing Field.
Following the normal 10 minute show, which will launch from just behind the left field wall, the Lantis Fireworks crew will launch the "grand finale" from this separate location.
Because the Rockies are the only team in Minor League baseball with enough land to comply with the NFPA's guidelines, the Rockies can truly say they have the nation's largest firework finale.
Every Friday night at Mike Lansing Field this season, the Casper Rockies will feature a Lantis Fireworks show. For firework specific questions, please call Josh at Lantis Fireworks at 800-443-3040. Or visit www.lantisfireworks.com
