Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The Laredo Bucks went 3-0-0 last week and clinched home ice advantage throughout the Southern Conference playoffs. The Bucks shutout the Corpus Christi Rayz 6-0 in their final trip to Memorial Coliseum this past Friday. Saturday the Bucks got by Austin 2-1 at the Bat Cave. On Tuesday the Bucks shutout the Rayz again, this time 4-0 at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks are home this Friday night against the Odessa Jackalopes. SPECIAL EVENTS
· Friday night is 80's retro night at the LEC. Fans are encouraged to wear their 80's clothes. There will be 80's themed music played. There will also be an after party at Graham Central Station, everyone with a Bucks ticket stub and dressed in 80's gear will get in with no cover charge. With just a Bucks ticket stub you get a dollar off the cover at Graham's.
NEXT UP
· The Bucks host Odessa this Friday night at the LEC. Laredo is on the road Saturday in Fort Worth and Bossier-Shreveport on Sunday.
BUCKS VS. UPCOMING OPPONENTS
ODESSA JACKALOPES · The Bucks are 3-0-1 against Odessa. In the last meeting the Jackalopes edged the Bucks 3-2 in a shootout in Odessa on January 24th. Last year the Bucks were 3-1-1 against Odessa in the regular season. The Bucks beat the Jackalopes 3-2 in the first round of the playoffs.
FORT WORTH BRAHMAS · The Bucks are 2-0-0 against the Brahmas. The Bucks won 4-2 in Fort Worth on November 21st. The Bucks then clinched the Southeast Division title with a 6-3 win over the Brahmas on February 11th at the LEC. Last year the Bucks were 4-0-1 against Fort Worth.
BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT MUDBUGS · The Bucks are 1-0-0 against the Mudbugs this year. The Bucks beat Bossier-Shreveport 6-3 on January 11th at the LEC. Last year Laredo was 1-2-0 against the Mudbugs.
PLAYOFF UPDATE
· The Bucks have clinched both a playoff berth and the Southeast Division title. With a 4-0 win over Corpus Christi on Tuesday night the Bucks clinched home ice advantage thru the Southern Conference playoffs. The Bucks need eight more points to clinch home ice thru the entire CHL playoffs. This number will change based on wins by the Bucks and losses by the teams chasing them.

MILESTONE
· Forward Jeff Bes has a CHL leading 104 points. He tallied his 100th point this past Friday night in Corpus Christi with a power play goal. The 104 points is a new career high and he becomes the first player in Bucks franchise history to top the century mark. Bes surpassed Chris Grenville's total of 90 points last year for the Bucks franchise season high. His previous career pro high was 100 points, set during the 2000-01 season. He currently has 34 goals, his career high is 35 also set during the 2000-01 campaign.
NEW FRANCHISE RECORD
· Last year the Bucks won 41 games in their first season. Last Saturday the Bucks picked up their franchise record setting 42nd win with a 2-1 decision in Austin. The Bucks upped their record total to 43 wins with a 4-0 victory over Corpus Christi on Tuesday. The Bucks still have 10 games remaining to increase their franchise record total.
APPROACHING A NEW FRANCHISE RECORD
· Bucks forward Chris Grenville leads the CHL with 39 goals. Grenville holds the Bucks franchise record for goals in a season with 40, set last year. He has scored a goal in 21 of the last 27 games. Out of his goal total, 20 have come on the power play.
WHO SAYS THEY'RE SHORTHANDED?
· The Bucks lead the league with 18 shorthanded goals.
HOUSE OF HORRORS
· The Bucks shutout the Rayz twice this past week, including a 4-0 win on Tuesday at the LEC. The Bucks were 7-0-0 this year at the LEC against Corpus Christi. The Rayz have never won a game at the LEC.

· 02/24/04 â TUESDAY â Tuesday night the Laredo Bucks got a goal and two assists from forward Steve Simoes and goalie Marco Emond stopped all 19 shots he faced as the Bucks beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 4-0. The Bucks finish the season series 11-2-0 against Corpus Christi. Laredo improves to a CHL best 43-6-5 with 91 points and clinches home ice advantage throughout the Southern Conference playoffs. Marco Emond picked up his second shutout of the year as he improved to 19-3-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Corpus Christi 0.

· 02/21/04 â SATURDAY â The Laredo Bucks got a third period goal by forward Mike Amodeo and stellar goaltending by David Guerrera as they posted a 2-1 win in Austin on Saturday night in front of 4,616 at the Bat Cave. The Bucks picked up their 42nd win of the year and set a new franchise record for wins in a season by improving to 42-6-5. Laredo has recorded a least a point in 21 of the last 22 games and they move within two points of clinching home ice advantage thru the Southern Conference playoffs. Guerrera was outstanding stopping 42 of 43 shots to get the win and improve to 24-3-3. FINAL SCORE Laredo 2, Austin 1.

· 02/20/04 â FRIDAY â The Laredo Bucks controlled the game from start to finish as they whitewashed the Corpus Christi Rayz 6-0 at Memorial Coliseum on Friday night. Forwards Jeff Bes and Mike Amodeo each scored two goals and goalie David Guerrera turned aside everything he saw. The Bucks improve to 41-6-5 as they match the 41 wins they had last year. Guerrera stopped 33 shots to pick up his fourth shutout and improve to 23-3-3. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Corpus Christi 0.
