Lansing Ignite News Release
LANSING, Mich. - Lansing Ignite has signed former Lansing United and Liberty University Midfielder, Kyle Carr, as its fourth player for the inaugural season. Carr will join Lansing Ignite, founding member of the USL League One, pending league and federation approval.
A former Lansing United standout, Carr began his success playing for Taylor University, Eastern Florida State College and Liberty University, where he graduated in 2017. With incredible success at Eastern Florida State in 2014, starting all 17 matches and leading the Titans to a 13-3-1 record, he was selected as the 2014-15 Eastern Florida State Male Student-Athlete of the Year in addition to being named to the 2014 NJCAA All-American First Team.
"It has been my dream to play soccer at the professional level since I was a kid," said Kyle Carr. "I am extremely excited to be playing with Coach Miller and Lansing Ignite in the inaugural season. We are building something notable, something the community can be proud of."
Carr's success continued as he transferred to Liberty University, where he played in 17 matches with 16 starts in 2015, with similar numbers in 2016, tallying an assist in 16 of the matches. He later went on to earn the Big South First Team All-Conference and Big South All-Tournament Team honors during his senior year.
"Kyle has all the qualities we want in a holding midfielder. He is very intelligent, brings extra detail and precision to his passing game, and has the ability and vision to break the game open," said Head Coach Nate Miller. "Kyle is also very gritty and defends at a very high level. He has the capacity to dominate matches in the middle of the park and connect our lines. Kyle has a massive ceiling and I believe he will take off here in Lansing."
Following his collegiate career, Carr went on to play with Lansing United in the summer of 2018. Carr is the fourth player to sign with Lansing Ignite. The team will be hosting an Open Tryout on January 27, 2019 beginning at 9:30 p.m. Professional soccer hopefuls should register to attend the tryout at lansingignite.com with a $75 fee per player.
Practices for the team will begin in February 2019 with their first match in Richmond, VA on March 30, 2019. For more information on Lansing Ignite, visit www.lansingignite.com or follow the team on social media.
