Durham, NC---The Central League announced today that the Jackson Senators have sold the contract of outfielder Selwyn Langaigne to the Minnesota Twins.
Langaigne, 28, hit .305 with 8 HR and 51 RBI for the Senators last season. He is currently playing for the Lara Cardenales in the Venezuelan Winter League. Through 51 games, he has 5 HR and 36 RBI and is among the league leaders in several categories: runs 34 (2nd); hits 64 (4th); doubles 17 (2nd); extra base hits 23 (4th).
Signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Blue Jays in 1993, Langaigne played nine seasons in the Toronto organization, spending the 2000-2002 seasons at Triple-A Syracuse. In 2003, he signed with the Central League and hit .318 in 63 games for Rio Grande Valley.
