Rochester Lancers News Release

Syracuse, NY - The Rochester Lancers (7-9) stormed back from down 10-6 after three quarters of play to win 12-10 in overtime over the Syracuse Silver Knights (6-10). Lubo had a huge game for the Lancers with 2 2-point goals, including the overtime game winner, and 2 assists. Patrick Hannigan was huge in goal for the Lancers making 18 saves.

The host Silver Knights would get on the board first when Andriy Budnyy put home a rebound of a Daniel Stevens shot to give Syracuse the first lead of the game just over five minutes into the game. That would be the lone goal of the opening quarter and Syracuse would hold a 2-0 lead after fifteen minutes of play.

Budnyy would double the Syracuse lead just over four minutes before half-time when he had his initial shot blocked and then scored on the second chance to give Syracuse a 4-0 lead at the half.

Rochester would get on the board in the third-quarter when Lubo set up Jeremy Ortiz who scored when the Lancers were on the man advantage. Syracuse would answer back on a power play of their own when Nelson Santana took the free kick restart and Jeffrey Hughes beat Lancers goalkeeper Patrick Hannigan. The Lancers would pull back within a goal when Mauricio Salles set up Lubo for his first goal of the game. Doug Miller would pull the Lancers even as he scored from just inside the 3-point arc with about three and a half minutes left in the quarter. Syracuse would retake the lead with just under a minute left when Jeff Hughes set up Budnyy for the tap in hat trick goal. Hughes would get his second of the game just 35 seconds later as Syracuse held a 10-6 lead after three quarters of play.

The Lancers would pull back to within two points early in the final quarter when Kyle Manscuk played a give and go with Lubo and scored his first of the game. The Lancers once again drew even with 3:17 left in the game when Grady Renfrow scored off his own rebound to force overtime.

Lubo would score the Lancers second power play goal of the evening to give the Lancers the 12-10 overtime victory.
